Did you know that the state of your carpet influences 50% of your overall interior look? So even if you have a nice and tidy room, a couple of stains can totally change the way your whole environment is perceived. Don’t let that happen. Also, don’t worry. We are not here to advertise our great carpet cleaning services (although they are really great!). We want to help you take matters into your own hands and provide you with expert knowledge on how to mix your own carpet cleaning solutions at home.
1. Standard Carpet Cleaning Solution
Our first suggestion is the closest thing you can get to a professional cleaning service but done all by yourself. You will need several commercial ingredients and you can use a machine to do the job or wash your carpet by hand. Brands are really not that important as long as you are otherwise happy with the products you use. To prepare this solution you need:
- 1 scoop/cup stain remover
- 2 tablespoons liquid detergent
- ¼ cup all purpose cleaner
- 1 teaspoon fabric softener
- 8 L hot water
Using this mixture on your carpet should leave it clean, bright and soft.
2. Easy Carpet Cleaning Solution
If you aren’t the experimental and keen-on-science type, there’s a super easy way to clean your carpet using only one ingredient you probably have at home already. Window cleaner! Just mix it with hot water (in equal parts) and voilà!
3. Strong Carpet Cleaning Solution
Got stubborn stains that won’t go no matter what you try on them? We bet you haven’t tried this powerful carpet cleaning solution you can mix at home so easily. Make sure you have a hold of:
- 60ml ammonia
- 15ml liquid dish detergent
- 60ml vinegar
- 11 L water
Warning! Ammonia is corrosive and can damage some of your organs like lungs, eyes and skin if you do not take enough care while using it. Always put gloves on when working with ammonia and use transparent glasses and face mask. If you have respiratory conditions, find other carpet cleaning alternatives.
4. Non-toxic Carpet Cleaning Solution
In the world we live in today there are just too many harmful materials and chemicals surrounding us. It would be great if we could use every opportunity to get closer to nature and use its resources in everyday life. Good news is we can do that when we are trying to get rid of some stains on the carpet. You only need 4 simple ingredients:
- 470ml water
- 235ml white vinegar
- 2 teaspoons salt
- A few drops of lemon or essential oil of your choice.
Not only is this carpet cleaning method effective and environmentally friendly, but it also eliminates the need of artificial air fresheners that are harmful to your health as well.
5. Powdered Carpet Cleaning Solution
